Although the choral tradition at the Universidad Católica dates back to the 194'0s, the Coro de Cámara de la Universidad Católica de Chile, in its current appearance, was created in 1980. In 2000, the current director, maestro Mauricio Cortés López, assumed the direction of the group. Previously, teachers Guido Minoletti, Ricardo Kistler and Jaime Donoso had seved in this post.
The Coro de Cámara UC is a non-professional group but with a high vocal selection, which has allowed it to tackle a varied and demanding repertoire that goes from the Middle Ages to contemporary music, both in "a cappella" singing and choral music. accompanied by an instrumental ensemble or orchestra.
In the 25 years of its history, the Coro de Cámara UC has released numerous and important works of the universal and Chilean repertoire, among which are several absolute premieres. As a result of this management, the group has consistently obtained praiseworthy comments from the public and specialized critics. |
