The Chilean contralto, Pilar Díaz, studied singing and performing with the Swiss teacher Ricardo Kistler. Her outstanding and intense career has led her to join Chile''s main Concert and Opera Seasons. In 1997 she completed further studies at the International Academy of Music for Soloists in Hannover, Germany. That same year she was nominated for the Asociación de Periodistas de Espectáculos (APES) award. In 2005 she received the "''Música Nacional'" award from the Círculo de Críticos de Arte (Art Critics Circle).
Pilar Díaz was invited to the 5th Concert of the 2009 Season of the Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad de La Serena, and has performed as a soloist in a wide choral symphonic repertoire, masses and oratorios, chamber music and lied and opera recitals in Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica and Germany.
Among her numerous recordings are: "Música Contemporánea Chilena-Joven; "Música chilena catedralicia"; W.A. Mozart's Requiem; L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9; 'La Púrpura de la Rosa (T. de Torrejón y Velasco), the first recording of an opera in Chile; J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245); and Suite para Orquestas Juveniles e Infantiles.
Currently, Pilar Díaz is an official at the Instituto de Música de la Pontificia Universidad Católica, where she holds the position of section leader and soloist of the Coro de Cámara de la Universidad Católica de Chile. |
