The Tiels Madrigaal Koor (= TMK) has about forty members aged 30 to 75 years old, with Tiel as their home base. The choir rehearses every Tuesday from 20.00 to 22.00 in the building of the Centrum voor de Kunsten De Plantage. Contrary to what the name from the year of foundation 1966 suggests, the choir hardly sings madrigals. The choir sings mainly classical repertoire: from Baroque to modern church music.
The choir regularly gives concerts in Tiel and the Betuwe region: sometimes with accompaniment, sometimes a capella. Every year the TMK is involved in the concerts in the Holy Week for Easter. Just like the annual ceremony during Remembrance in Sint-Maartenskerk. Besides the musical interest, the choir members also share other interests: each year a cozy choir outing is organized, for example a visit to a concert, a historic city or a workshop by a guest conductor.
In 2016, the Tiels Madrigaal Koor was 50 years old. The celebrated this with a well-attended jubilee concert on October 30 at the St. Maartenskerk, together with the Plantage Barok Orkest. |
