The Swedish tenor, Mikael Stenbaek, made his studies at the Royal College of Music, Stockholm in choir conducting and soloist class for singers from 1996 to 2002.
during the last decade, Mikael Stenbaek has established himself as one of his country leading concert-, oratorio- and church- singer active both in and outside of Sweden. He has a special engagement and interest for J.S. Bach's Evangelist parts and arias and has performed J.S. Bach´s St John Passion (BWV 245) and St Matthew Passion (BWV 244), Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248), Mass in B minor (BWV 232) and numerous cantatas as well as W.A. Mozart's Requiem and Mass in C minor, George Frideric Handel´s Messiah and Solomon, Haydn´s the Creation and Stabat Mater, Felix Mendelssohn´s Paulus, Georg Philipp Telemann´s Christmas Cantatas and other oratorios, masses and cantatas by various composers together with Sweden´s and Europe´s leading Baroque and modern orchestras, for example the Nederlandse Bachvereniging (Director: Jos van Veldhoven), Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble, REbaroque, Elbipolis Barockorchester Hamburg, Akadêmia Ensemble (Director: Françoise Lasserre), Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and Il Fondamento.
Mikael Stenbaek has performed on a regularly basis with conductor Eric Ericson since 1997 in numerous concerts both national and international. For example: J.S. Bach's St John Passion (BWV 245), Mass in B minor (BWV 232) and Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) and many other works. Other conductors that he has worked with includes Andrew Parrott, Paul Goodwin, Lawrence Renes, Andrea Marcon, Peter Dijkstra, Françoise Lasserre and Paul Dombrecht.
Mikael Stenbaek has also been a soloist in radio- and TV-broadcasts and has performed in several recordings. |
