Justin Staebell (Baritone)

Born: March 15, 1986 - Orchard Park, New York, USA

The American baritone, Justin Staebell, studied at Orchard Park High School (Class of 2004). He received his Bachelor of Music degree in Voice performance from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Fredonia (2004-2009); and his · Masters of Music degree in Opera Performance from Arizona State University in Tempe (2009-2012). Currently he studies at the University of Minnesota. In competition, he has been a two-time recipient of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions Four Cities District Encouragement Award in 2009 and 2010.

Justin Staebell has been seen on the concert stage performing as a baritone soloist for Maurice Duruflé's Requiem, J.S. Bach's Magnificat (BWV 243) and St. John Passion (BWV 245), W.A. Mozart's Requiem, Johannes Brahms' Requiem, Dubois' Seven Last Words of Christ as well as George Frideric Handel’s Messiah. He has been a guest artist with the Arizona Bach Festival, ASU Symphony Orchestra, the Western New York Chamber Orchestra, and the AIMS Festival Orchestra in Graz, Austria.

Despite his concert and competition achievements however, Justin Staebell finds his musical home primarily on the opera stage having performed roles such as the title role in Tartuffe, Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola, Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd, Pustraplk in Šarlatán, the 2nd Man in Armor in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Escamillo in Georges Bizet's Carmen, Rev. Olen Blitch in Susannah and Giorgio i I Puritani. Most recently he performed the role of the Father in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel & Gretel.

Justin Staebell has been Baritone Soloist/Section Leader at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (November 2007-May 2009); Baritone Section Leader at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Phoenix, Arizona (November 2009-September 2012); member of Arizona Opera Choir (April-May 2012); Minnesota Opera Choir (since August 2012); Baritone Section Leader in Minnesota Chorale (since August 2012); Bass/Baritone Section Leader and soloist at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church (since October 2012), and a member of Oratory Bach Ensemble in Minneapolis.

Justin Staebellis Adjunct Professor of Voice at Inver Hills Community College in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota (since August 2013) and Mount Olivet School of Music, and Teaching Assistant at University of Minnesota (since 2015). He currently lives in Shoreview, Minnesota.
