History & Mission: |
The seven-year series of Bach Cantata performances known as "American Bach" is now being launched as a community-wide nonprofit organization and made its debut in January 2010 as the Arizona Bach Festival. Performances still include the great players of the Phoenix Symphony, and the chorus is the Phoenix Chorale (of Grammy fame). Scott Youngs is on the podium, and our guest concertmaster is Dr. Stephen Redfield, violinist extraordinaire! The organ recitals took place at All Saints' Episcopal, Phoenix, on the gorgeous Visser mechanical action organ, featuring Dr. Kimberly Marshall from Arizona State University and Scott Dettra, the organist from the National Cathedral in Washington, DC.
In addition to the two organ recitals, Stephen Redfield performed in a solo violin concert in the lobby of the Viad Tower and the Festival Orchestra, Phoenix Chorale, and soloists presented J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) at Phoenix's Central United Methodist Church. |
