The German mezzo-soprano, Ingeborg Springer, grew up in Schwerin. In 1953 she began her training at the Berliner Musikakademie.
After she had already worked in the concert hall, Ingeborg Springer made her debut in 1964 at the Staatsoper of Dresden as Mercedes in Carmen and remained a member of this opera house until 1968 member. In 1968 she was engaged at the Staatsoper Berlin, where her first role was Wellgunde in the Ring des Nibelungen. Following that she featured in multiple roles. I addition to smaller roles, she appeared in roles like Hänsel in Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel - one of her best achievements - and Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Octavian in Rosenkavalier and Maddalena in Rigoletto. She had also appearances and concerts in the Soviet Union, the CvSSR, in France, Austria and Romania. In addition she appeared successfully as oratorio soloist.
Later Ingeborg Springer worked in Berlin as estimated teacher.
