The German contralto, Gabriele Schreckenbach, completed her music teaching studies before taking a late decision for as singing career. As was winner of the Berliner Akademie der Künste Competition and the International Geneva Music Competition, she could finally establish her way in the music world.
Since then Gabriele Schreckenbach has worked with many renowned orchestras and worked under the direction of conductors such as Ahronowich, Aikal, Albrecht, Bertini, Bour, Riccardo Chailly, Michael Gielen, Klee, Kuhn, Erich Leinsdorf, Ferdinand Leitner, Yehudi Menhuin, Zubin Mehta, Helmuth Rilling, and many others. She has been a guest at many international festivals, such as the Berliner and Wiener Festwochen, Salzburg Festival, Festival of Madrid, Maggio Musicale in Florence, Prague Spring, and Montepulciano. She has also been engaged at opera houses such as Berlin, Kiel, Geneva and Frankfurt.
In additions to appearances in Europe, South America, USA, Israel, Turkey, the Philippines and Japan, Gabriele Schreckenbach has made numerous radio and television broadcasts, and CD recordings in all styles.
In 1992-1993 Gabriele Schreckenbach became a Guest Professor for singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, and since 1994 she is Professor for singing at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen. In recent years she has been invited to serve as a juror at various music competitions (including German Music Competition of the German Music Council, Competition of Music Schools, etc.) |
