The Dutch soprano, Jeannette van Schaik, developed at a very young age her interest in vocal music. She joined the Koorschool St.Bavo te Haarlem, where she took private singing lessons with voice teacher Sarah Barret. In 2008 she enrolled at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where she studied with tenor Hein Turkmen. Currently, she is studying for her Bachelor of Music degree with the mezzo-soprano Sasja Hunnego and coach David Bollen. In addition, she took lessons and attended master-classes with Udo Reinemann, Emma Kirkby, Alexander Oliver, Margreet Honig and Ira Siff.
As a soloist, Jeannette van Schaik has collaborated in performances of several oratorios such as the St. John Passion (BWV 245), Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) and several cantatas of J.S. Bach, Coronation Mass by W.A. Mozart, Stabat Mater by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi, Requiem by Gabriel Fauré and Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini. Here she has worked with conductors such as Jos Vermunt, Raymond Honing, Piet Hulsbos, Hein Meens en Annelies Smit. Further, she has performed roles as Filia in Jephte, by Carissimi, Dido in Dido and Aeneas by Purcell and 2nd Lady and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte by W.A. Mozart.
In July 2014 she took a month to the Summer Opera Program of the International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv, Israel. Since 2011, she has formed a duo with the pianist Jaap Wisselink. |
