The Bach Choir Stuttgart (= SBC&O; other names: Stuttgarter Bach-Chor und Orchester, Bachchor und Bachorchester, Stuttgart Bachchor und Bach-Orchester Stuttgart, Stuttgart Bach Choir & Orchestra, Stuttgarter Chor und Orchester, L'ensemble vocal et instrumental de Stuttgart) consists of singers of the Stuttgart region, who feel especially connected to the vocal music of J.S. Bach. Apart from a-cappella-music for service and concert the ensemble dedicates itself to a broadly varied repertoire of the classical oratorio literature and few admitted to works of 18th and 19th centuries. The concert programmes of the ensemble also include music of our time. In the press operational readiness level and sound of this choir are emphasised again and again. In the summer 2001 the Bach Choir Stuttgart made guest appearances in Prague and Brünn, in March 2002 the ensemble led a small-scale performance of Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) by J.S. Bach. In July 2004 the ensemble was invited to perform in the City Church of Vienna at the Festival "Europäische Kirchenmusik Schwäbisch Gmünd" the premiere of a new work by Adriana Hölszky. For autumn this year (2004) stands a concert tour to England with a-cappella-works of the Bach family on the programme. For December this year (2004) is a CD production with Camille Saint-Saëns' Oratorio de Noel is planned.
As instrumental ensemble which stand at the disposal of the Bach Choir Stuttgart is the Bach Orchestra Stuttgart. The largest part of this ensemble consists of the members of the SWR Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart. |
