The Rheinberger Chor Vaduz was founded on choir was on June 28, 1996 with the name Josef Gabriel Rheinberger Chor. It was developed from the merger of the music school choir (founded in 1965) and the Choir of the Liechtenstein Gymnasium (LG-Chor, founded in 1987). By the end of 2007 the Josef Gabriel Rheinberger Chor is an independent ensemble of Liechtensteinische Musikschule. Since early 2008, the Rheinberger Chor is an independent associataion, based in Vaduz.
The Rheinberger Chor maintauins high level performance of the choral music and vocal works with individual members commitment. The approximately 50 members of the choir come from Liechtenstein and neighboring Switzerland and Austria.
The repertoire of the choir consists of choral literature from different eras and styles. The choir sings both sacred and secular works. Again and again there are also folk songs from different countries and spirituals on the programme. The style of the demonstrations as the repertoire is very varied. In general, each year two different programmes are prepared in the area of Liechtenstein - Switzerland. Together with the Symphonisches Orchester Liechtenstein several major works have already been rehearsed and performed.
The Rheinberger Chor has participated succesfully in several international choral competitions. In May 2002 there was an outstanding performance at the Robert Schumann International Choral Competition in Zwickau. The Rheinberger Chor was in the highest category with a golden diploma. |
