The Portuguese baritone, Music director and music pedagogue, Armando Possante, studied at Escola Secundária Rainha D. Leonor (Class of 1989). He began his musical studies at the Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa (Class of 1989). He graduated at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESMS) with Degrees in in Gregorian Chant (1993), Choral Conducting (1994), and Singing (2000), the lastter in the class of Luis Madureira class. He began his singing studies in 1988 with Mariana Bonito d’Oliveira. He also travelled regularity to Vienna, where he studied with Hilde Zadek. He won Won the 3rd prize at the Concurso Vozes Ibéricas, the 3rd prize at the Concurso Nacional de Canto Luísa Todi and the 1st prize in Concurso de Interpretação do Estoril.
Armando Possante is Music Director and soloist Grupo Vocal Olisipo (since 1988), soloist of the Coro Gregoriano de Lisboa and guest singer Nederlands Kamerkoor, having performed in concerts throughout Europe, Japan and North America and recorded over a dozen CD's.
Armando Possante performs regularly as a concerto soloist and in recital, having also played leading roles in opera, including W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, L'Amore Industrioso, La Donna di Genio Volubile, As Variedades de Proteu, Dido and Aeneas, Venus and Adonis, La Dirindina, La déscente d’Orphée aux Enfers, A Floresta, Corpo e Alma and L'Elisir d’Amore.
Armando Possante is Professor at the Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa (since September 1993) and at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (since September 2006). Among his pupils and/or singers who have attended his master-classes: Francisco Brazão (Bass-Baritone), Nuno Raimundo (Tenor). He married Ariana Moutinho Russo on August 17, 2013. They currently live in Lisbon, Portugal. |
