The Dutch conductor, flautist and music teacher, Yvonne Peters, studied flute with Emile Biessen at the Utrechts Conservatorium. She then specialized in playing the traverso. She took various courses in choir and orchestral conducting and studied with Hans van den Hombergh and Oane Wiersma, among others. She is currently being vocally coached by the mezzo-soprano Léonie Korff.
Since 2014, Yvonne Peters has been conductor of Toonkunstkoor Dordrecht, with which she performed C. Monteverdi's Maria Vespers in 2015 in collaboration with De Witt Academy. She is also conductor of the Remonstrant Cantorij in Dordrecht.
A selection of the works performed under Yvonne Peters' direction: Johannes-Passion BWV 245, Matthäus-Passion BWV 244 and various cantatas by J.S. Bach; Matthäus Passion and cantatas by Georg Philipp Telemann; various programs by H. Purcell (including Dido and Aeneas and King Arthur); Die Schöpfung by J. Haydn; Misa a Buenos Aires by M. Palmeri and Eternal Light by H. Goodall. With De Witt Academy in a small line-up, De Witt Consort, she performed, among others, the Kaffee Cantata (BWV 211), Cantata Ich habe genug (BWV 82), Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor, BWV 1067 by J.S. Bach and music by H. Purcell and J. Blow.
Since August 2000, Yvonne Peters has been a teacher of Music and KUA/CKV at the Altena College in Sleeuwijk and she is a partner of Peters & den Hartog Muziek where she is responsible for the repair of woodwind instruments. She currently lives in Dordrecht, the Netherlands. |
