Grégoire May (Bass) |
Born: 1992 - Geneva, Switzermand |
The Swiss bass, Grégoire May, born in Geneva (but a proud inhabitant of Valais!), discovered singing for the first time in the children's choir of the primary school. From then on, singing became an important part of his childhood and youth and accompanied his career. At 15 years, he joined the Alphüttli yodel club and then sang in many choirs such as the Swiss Jugendchor youth choir or the Interkantonalen Männerchor (Intercantonal Men's Choir), of which he is a founding member - which also applies to the female version of this choir. He soon advanced from singer to director: assistant in the Swiss Jugendchor youth choir, director of the Geneva yodel club and the Seefelder Kammerchor chamber choir in Zürich. He is also a member of and the Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (Director: Rudolf Lutz).
In addition to his lively activities as a choir and solo singer, Grégoire May has been involved in preliminary studies for solo singing with Claude Darbellay since 2011 and also in music theory and composition at the Geneva Music Academy. After receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Choir Direction with Beat Schäfer from the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, he has studied Choir Directing at the ZHdK with Markus Utz and Solo Singing with Werner Güra since Autumn 2016. As of May 2016, he also studied singing with Scot Weir at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. |
