The Dutch mezzo-soprano, Myra Kroese, studied singing in various conservatories and with Sophia van Sante and Marianne Dieleman. She also received private lessons from Aafje Heynis, Horst Günther and Jelle Draijer. Already during her studies she began to appear in concerts as a soloist. So she sang in Krönungsmesse (W.A. Mozart) with Jan Heye as the bass soloist.
Myra Kroese specialises in the great oratorios of J.S. Bach and George Frideric Handel. Here flexibility allows her to balance her activities between soloist and ensemble member. She has worked with conductors as Jos van Immerseel (Ninth Symphony by L.v. Beethoven, Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) by J.S. Bach), Philippe Herreweghe (Walpurgisnacht by Felix Mendelssohn, J.S. Bach's Cantatas), Frans Brüggen (Requiem by W.A. Mozart), Reinbert de Leeuw (Mass by Igor Stravinsky, Wo bist du Licht by Vivier, for mezzo-soprano & orchestra) and Hans van den Hombergh (Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) by J.S. Bach, Judith by Arthur Honegger and Poeme de l'amour et de la mer by Chausson). Her repertoire also includes Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen by Gustav Mahler, Alto Rhapsody by Johannes Brahms, Elijah by F. Mendelssohn, Verdi's Requiem and other vocal works.
Myra Kroese gives Lieder recitals, works with the chamber vocal ensembles Gesualdo Consort and sings in the Nederlands Kamerkoor. |
