The Agentinean violinist and conductor, Manfredo Kraemer, began his musical training in Córdoba, Argentina. Since 1984 he has lived in Germany, to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, with Franzjosef Maier, director of the Collegium Aureum and unavoidable pioneer in the rediscovery of the Baroque violin and its technique.
In 1986 Manfredo Kraemer was invited to join the famous ensemble Musica Antiqua Köln, under the direction of Reinhard Goebel. During the following five years (1986-1991) he developed intense concert activity, also as a soloist and conductor, with around one hundred annual engagements that took him throughout Europe, Asia, Oceania and America. Added to this are appearances on radio and television, and numerous recordings for the Archiv/Deutsche Grammophon label.
At the end of 1991 Manfredo Kraemer began a freelance career performing under the direction of William Christie, Marc Minkowski, Frans Brüggen, René Jacobs, and Gabriel Garrido among others, collaborating with renowned ensembles, such as Les Arts Florissants, Les Musiciens du Louvre, Anima Eterna and Cantus Cölln (Director: Konrad Junghänel). The close union with some others, of which in part he has been a founding member (Les Cyclopes, Musica ad Rhenum, Capriccio Stravagante), resulted in productions that bear his imprint and were internationally recognized and awarded. Included by BBC Music Magazine in 2004 among the most prominent and influential baroque violinists of today, his discography includes more than 40 titles. Engagements as a soloist or conductor regularly take him to Canada, Mexico, Spain, Australia, Brazil, all of Europe and the USA. Closely linked to Jordi Savall as a chamber music partner, he serves as first violin of Le Concert des Nations and Hespèrion XX, under his direction.
In 2004 Manfredo Kraemer took over the Baroque violin chair at the Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña, in Barcelona, while maintaining an intense teaching work at universities and conservatories in Europe and America. In 1996 he created “The Rare Fruits Council” together with Pablo Valetti, Balázs Máté and Alessandro De Marchi: the vivid and daring interpretations of this group soon attracted the attention of the public and critics, and their recordings obtained the most notable international awards.
Manfredo Kraemer's international activity is interspersed with local projects: promoter and artistic director, since its foundation in 2000, of the International Baroque Music Festival “Camino de las Estancias” of the Province of Córdoba, he has created, with “La Barroca del Suquía” , one of the first and most prestigious orchestras with original instruments in Argentina. |
