The Japanese tenor, Takayuki Kagami, studied at Morioka Third High School (Class of 1999) and took music courses at Iwate University Faculty of Education, Arts and Culture (Class of 2004). He continued his studies at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Graduate School: Master's Program solo major completion (Class of 2008). He studied singing with Mariko Sasaki, Sasaki Masatoshi, and Michio Tatara.
Takayuki Kagami is active as a solist mainly in oratorios and other sacred works. The music of J.S. Bach, including Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248), St. John Passion (BWV 245), Mass in B minor (BWV 232) and a number of church cantatas, has become especially a center of his activity. Other works include: W.A. Mozart's Requiem, Dvorak's Requiem, and L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. During his studies at the Tokyo University of the Arts student, he appeared as tenor soloist in Bruckner's Te Deum, Missa No. 3 in F minor and participated regularly in the National University of Fine Arts and Music choir.
In the field of opera, he performed the role of Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte in Geidai Morning concert. He has sung with prominent conductor, such as Helmut Winschermann, Hanns-Martin Schneidt, Masaaki Suzuki, Wolf-Dieter Maurer, and Yasujiro Iimori.
Takayuki Kagami is a member of Tokyo Bach Choir, Tokyo Musik-Kreis choir, Bach Collegium Japan (Director: Masaaki Suzuki), and Mozart Academy Tokyo. |
