Barbara Hoene (Soprano)

Born: February 4, 1944 - Cottbus, Germany

The German soprano, Barbara Hoene, received her training at the Musikhochschschule of Leipzig with K. Seipt, later with Maria Croonen and Johannes Kempter.

Barbara Hoene made her stage debut in 1966 at the Landestheater of Dessau as Laura in Bettelstudenten by K. Milloecker. In 1968 joined the Stadttheater of Halle/Saale, to which she belonged until 1973. Then she followed a call to the Staatsoper of Dresden. There she had a successful career as a lyric soprano, in roles as Fiordiligi in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, Pamina in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Sophie in Rosenkavalier, Carolina in Cimarosa's Matrimonio segreto, Nedda in Bajazzo, Baronin in Wildschütz by Lortzing, the title role in Orff's Die Kluge, Nannetta in Falstaff by Verdi and in a number of opera works of George Frideric Handel. In addition she had an extensive activity on the concert podium, particularly as Lieder interpreter and as oratorio soprano (J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel). She had further opera appearances, usually with the Dresden ensemble, at the State Operas of Berlin and Leipzig, at the Komischen Oper Berlin and at the Opera House of Leningrad. Tours led her to Italy (1982), France (1983) and Japan (1980, 1982). In 1988 she made gust appearance in Amsterdam as Fiordiligi in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte. She also appeared abroads as a concert singer. She worked more than twenty years at the Dresden Semperoper; there she sang in 1994 Mme Laperouse in the contemporary opera Melusine by A. Reimann, in 1995 Marcellina inW.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro. She is married with the violinist Klaus Hoene. She retired from the stage in June 2009.
