The German choral conductor, Toralf Hildebrandt, was a member of a Berlin boys’ choir. After this extensive exposure to choral music, he soon began taking voice and piano lessons. During his church music studies between 1982 and 1987 in Greifswald, he majored in choir conducting. Following his graduation, he became assistant to the Greifswald Domkantor and composer Manfred Schlenker. Studies in the field of choir conducting took him to Leipzig where he received extensive training as a conductor by Professor Georg Christoph Biller, presently Thomaskantor.
Since 1989, Toralf Hildebrandt has directed the Knabenchor Hösel (formerly named: Jugendkantorei Hösel) as its cantor. As choral conductor, he has won both national and international prizes and awards, and is considered a specialist in the field of boys’ choir conducting. Moreover, he is a sought-after choir pedagogue and jury member at international choral festivals and competitions. |
