The Hungarian baritone, Szabolcs Hámori, began his singing caree in the Hámori Szabolcs started the Hungarian State Opera Children's Choir (1988-1990). He studied singing and composition at the Leó Weiner Conservatory (1997-2000). and at the Béla Bartók Miskolc College majoring in singing as a student of Professor Katalin Schultz. In 2003-2004, he was a member of the Opera Studio of the Hungarian State Opera House as a student of of Pantea Ionel. In 2005-2006 he was awarded an Annie Fischer scholarship. He has taken part in master-courses by Krisztina Láki and Julia Hamari. In 2001 he won third prize in the Mihály Székely singing competition.
Szabolcs Hámori's repertoire consists mainly of W.A. Mozart and Donizetti operas bass roles. His roles include Don Giovanni, Leporello, Masetto, Figaro and Dulcamara in L'Elisir d'amore. In 2002, he sang at the Opera Festival Miskolc in Puccini's opera La Fanciulla Del West. He made his debut at the Hungarian State Opera in 2009 Kurt Weilin opera The Rise and Fall of Mahagonny (Alaszkafarkas Joe) and George Frideric Handel's Xerxes (Ariodates); and at the National Theater of Miskolc in 2010 as Don Alfonso. In 2014, he sang at Berlin Deutsche Oper Tischlereiban and also Don Alfonso in W.A. Mozart's Cosi fan tutte.
Since 2005, Szabolcs Hámorhas performed in many oratorio, including at the Palace of Arts and the Music Academy.He is welcome on concert podiums and has recently sung in works by J.S. Bach (Mass in B minor BWV 232, Johannes-Passion BWV 245), G.F. Handel (Teodora, Acis and Galatea, Messiah), Haydn (The Seasons), W.A. Mozart (Requiem) and Dvorak (Stabat Mater). He sang the role of Aeneas in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. He has performed with conductors as Helmuth Rilling, Jose Curával, Graeme Jenkins-szel, Fischer Ádámmal, Gothár Péterrel, Kovalik Balázzsal and Ernő Weillal. |
