The Italian bass, Sergio Foresti, graduated with full marks in piano, under the guidance of Germana Ruozi, and in singing with Maria Gabriella Munari at the Istituto Musicale O. Vecchi. He subsequently took part in the specialising courses held by Liliana Poli and Leonardo De Lisi.
Sergio Foresti made his debut in 1998 in L’Olimpiade by Antonio Vivaldi at the Teatro Rendano di Cosenza. From then on, he started to appear in some of the most important festivals and theatres throughout Europe. After taking part in the Wexford Opera Festival and in the Opera Barga Festival, he sang as Plutone in Monteverdi’s Orfeo at the Festival of Stiria in Graz. In Bassano del Grappa he portrayed the role of Leporello, at the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli he sang in Cimarosa’s Il marito disperato, followed by a new production of L’incoronazione di Poppea at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna in the 2001-2002 season.

After an initial activity as chorus singer in several theatrical institutions, Sergio Foresti's particular interest in Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music brought him to perform with numerous ancient music ensembles: among them, Concerto Italiano (Director: Rinaldo Alessandrini), Reverdie, Il Giardino Armonico, Europa Galante, Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca, Accademia degli Invaghiti, Cappella Ducale di Venezia, Accademia Bizantina, Clemencic Consort, Athestis Chorus, La Capella Reial de Catalunya, Ensemble a Sei Voci. In this period he had the chance to sing under the baton of Rinaldo Alessandrini, Fabio Biondi, René Clemencic, Enrico Gatti, Jordi Savall.
Sergio Foresti collaborated as soloist with the Cappella di San Petronio di Bologna, Accademia Chigiana di Siena, Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia di Roma, Ravenna Festival, Rossini Opera Festival, RAI, Radio France, RTSI, WDR.
