Carmine Celebrat Kórus was founded in 1995 in the Városmajori Templom by faculty members. The choir has performed music in church servies and concerts in many churches in Budapest. The members of the choir are teachers, engineers, doctors, lawyers, and professional singers.
Under the director István Zimányi the choir has appeared in in radio and other performances in recent years, accompanied by László Nagy, Adrián and János Pálúr. Soloists in oratorio works have included: Mária Zádori, Rózsa Kiss, Judit Németh, Andrea Meláth, Erzsébet Bardócz, Péter Marosvári, János Szerekován, Joszéf Moldvay, Károly Sárosi. In choral-instrumental works the choir is accompanied by members of leading Budapest orchestras.
The choir performs much a-cappella works, including major works as Franz Liszt's Missa Choralis, Zoltán Kodály's Missa Brevis, Bárdos, Farkas - and ancient compositions by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Bernardi, Antonio Caldara and others. The choir regularly performs church music works as Heinrich Schütz’ The Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross, J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), Magnificat (BWV 243), Jesu meine Freude (BWV 227),George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Haydn's Creation, Mozart's Requiem. The choir has participated a number of times in Purcell’ chamber opera Dido and Aeneas, and presented concerts with works by Zoltán Kodály, Johannes Brahms, Felix Mendelssohn, Franz Liszt and concerts of Romantic works..
In recent years the choir went on tours to Crisana, Transylvania, Moldavia, Maramures cities. |
