Founded: 2018 - Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, Germany
The vocal ensemble Capella Carlsruhe was founded in 2018 by Kantor Peter Gortner and, under his direction, works on selected Baroque masterpieces on a project-related basis. In recent years, the ensemble has stylishly performed J.S. Bach's Actus tragicus (BWV 106) as well as Heinrich Schütz' Matthäuspassion and his Musikalische Exeuqien in a liturgical context.
In 2020, Capella Carlsruhe performed together with the Karlsruher Barockorchester for the first time and joined the Easter service attendees in the Easter celebrations with J.S. Bach's Cantata Der Himmel lacht (BWV 31). In the second half of the year they devoted themselves to the funeral music of Johann Michael Bach and Johann Bach.
