The Karlsruher Barockorchester (= KBO) was founded in 1998 on the initiative of the Kantor of the Evangelische Stadtkirche Karlsruhe, Christian-Markus Raiser, together with musicians from the Karlsruhe region who specialize in making music with historical instruments. The orchestra quickly made a name for itself as an excellent and reliable ensemble and is now a sought-after partner in church music throughout southern Germany and neighboring countries. It was heard several times at the Internationalen Händelfestspielen in Karlsruhe, including in 2014 with the performance of George Frideric Handel’s Messiah. Also in 2014, the orchestra produced a CD production "Musik am Karlsruher Hof von 1720-1820". The CD was released on the Christophorus label. The members bring their experiences from nationally known ensembles such as the Freiburger Barockorchester, La Stagione Frankfurt, Barockorchester Stuttgart or the Balthasar-Neumann-Ensemble to the work of the Karlsruher Barockorchester, which is heard more and more frequently in the region a. The repertoire ranges from Monteverdi to the oratorios, passions and cantatas of J.S. Bach and G.F. Handel to works from the late classical and early romantic periods on contemporary instruments. |
