The French bass-baritone, Nicolas Boulanger, began singing at The Maîtrise de Bretagne, a boys choir based in Rennes (France). After his studies at the Faculty of Musicology he gratuated in Versailles at the Center of Baroc Music and in 2009 at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. He was invited for master-classes with Alain Buet, Maarten Koningsberger, Fred Jacobs, Richard Egarr and David Wilson-Johnson.
Since 2005 Nicolas Boulanger is regularly invited by the Nederlandse Bachvereniging (Director: Jos van Veldhoven), Nederlands Kamerkoor and Cappella Amsterdam (Director: Daniel Reuss). He sang his first project with the Collegium Vocale Gent (Director: Philippe Herreweghe) in september 2010 and has been invited to sing with Ensemble Pygmalion (Director: Raphaël Pichon) since 2011.
As soloist, he interpreted Caronte in the Rossi’s Orfeo , Guccio in Gianni Schicci, Masetto and Il Commendatore in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni with the Opera Academy Of Amsterdam. He was Jean in Les Noces de Jeanette by Victor Massé during a tour in France and Holland and L'arbre in L'enfant et les Sortileges at the Concertgebow (Amsterdam) He was invited in 2010 in Den Haag for the Creation by Haydn and the four psalms for Baritone solo by E. Grieg. In 2012-2013 he took part in the opera Venus and Adonis (Blow) at Le theatre de Caen, France and the Opéra Comique (Paris) and was Leporello in Don Giovanni by W.A. Mozart during the Opernakademie in Henfenfeld (Germany). He was the bass solo for Mass in B minor (BWV 232) and the Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) by J.S. Bach (Cappella Amsterdam - Daniel Reuss) in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Danzig and at the Festival of La Chaise Dieu (France). In August 2013 he was Don Giovanni in Don Giovanni by W.A. Mozart during the Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland in Wekersheim. |
