The German baritone, Daniel Blumenschein, (Bariton) was born in. Studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig with Kammersänger (KS) Professor Hermann Christian Polster and after receiving the diploma he began an Artistic Development course. He completed both courses of study with honors.
Prize winner in numerous vocal competitions, including: 1st Prize in Voice at the Artländer Music Competetion 2001, 2nd Prize at the Richard Strauss Vocal Competition 2003, 1st Prize at the 3rd Albert Lortzing Vocal Competition 2004. Daniel Blumenschein received a scholarship for Outstanding Performance for the Hans and Eugenia Jütting Society 2001, and the Richard Wagner scholarship 2004. He has been an active participant in various interpretation and master-classes under the direction of artists including: Thomas Hampson & Wolfram Rieger - Heidelberger Frühling 2008, Professor Fabio Luisi, KS Theo Adam, KS Professor Peter Schreier, Professor Graham Johnson, Professor Ingrid Figur, Patricia Pease.
Daniel Blumenschein has appeared on the stage of opera houses including Opera de Nice, Oper Halle, Anhaltisches Theater Dessau, and many others, interpreting roles such as Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte, Allazim in Zaide, Papageno, Speaker and Priest in Die Zauberflöte by W.A. Mozart, Besenbinder in Hänsel und Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck, Kaspar in Der Freischütz by C.M.v. Weber, 2. Strolch in Die Kluge by C. Orff, Pappacoda in Eine Nacht in Venedig by J. Strauss, Mesner in Tosca and Larkens in La fanciulla del west by G. Puccini, as well as den Perückenmacher in Ariadne auf Naxos by R. Strauss.
In addition to his operatic career, Daniel Blumenschein's interest also extends to the concert stage. He has already sung all the major Oratorio roles of his voice by composers including: J.S. Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann, George Frideric Handel, W.A. Mozart, Haydn, Felix Mendelssohn, and many others.
Daniel Blumenschein has performed on stage, in concerts, and in recitals at well-known festivals (Halleschen Händelfestspiele, Leipziger Bachfest, Köthener Bachfest, Kunstfest Weimar, Wernigeröder Schlossfestspiele, Opera Festival in Peralada and San Sebastiana), which were broadcast on radio and television. He has performed on stage and concertized throughout Europe (Poland, The Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, and Spain) with orchestras including the MDR Sinfonieorchester, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Staatskapelle Halle/Saale, Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester, Lautten Compagney Berlin, Collegium Musicum Salzburg, Karlsruher Barockorchester, and many others.
His multi-faceted artistic talent also includes the interpretation of 'Roman Cycowski' from the Comedian Harmonists. Since 2003, he has been a member of the Ensemble Charmonists, which successfully tours throughout Germany presenting the story of the famous Comedian Harmonists. |
