Amelia Berridge (Soprano)

Born: April 24, ____ - London, England

The English soprano, Amelia Berridge, graduated from the University of York (UK) with a first class Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with Honours. Throughout her studies, she sang as a soloist and consort singer with numerous ensembles including The Ebor Singers, Yorkshire Bach Choir, Pezzettini, The National Youth Choir of Great Britain, The National Youth Chamber Choir of Great Britain and the Rêverie choir.

Since graduating, Amelia Berridge has lived in France and the Netherlands where she has engagements with Collegium Vocale Gent (Director: Philippe Herreweghe), Amsterdam Baroque (Director: Ton Koopman), Les Arts Florissants (Directors: William Christie/Paul Agnew), Les Voix Animées, Vox Luminis (Director: Lionel Meunier), Nederlandse Bachvereniging (Directors: Jos van Veldhoven/Shunske Sato) and others. She also works with the Ensemble William Byrd under the direction of Graham O'Reilly, sings regularly as a guest soloist for the Paris Choral Society and as a soloist for the Ensemble Orchestral des Hauts de Seine, directed by Laurent Brack. She has performed frequently as an oratorio and opera soloist amongst other engagements in France, Germany and the UK. Recently performed roles include Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aneas with the Ensemble William Byrd, previously with the National Canter for Early Music in England, Theodora in excerpts from George Frideric Handel's Theodora with the Queens Baroque Ensemble, as well as many other works and oratorios such as Messiah, Dixit Dominus, Samson, Solomon (G.F. Handel); Carmina Burana (C. Orff); Requiem (Gabriel Fauré); Magnificat (BWV 243), Mass in B minor (BWV 232), Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) (J.S. Bach); Requiem and Mass in C minor (W.A. Mozart).

Amelia Berridge has been lucky enough to travel throughout Europe and America and has featured on many recordings, including "Light and Gold: with the Eric Whitacre Singers – a gramophone award-winning CD which reached No. 1 in the USA and UK classical charts. She has also been fortunate to work with many prestigious conductors including Philippe Herreweghe, William Christie, Edo de Waart, Daniel Barenboim and Sir David Willcocks.
