The Russian vioinist, Boris Begelman, began his violin studies at the early age of 7. After music school and college he graduated from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory under the guidance of Mikhail Gotsdiner (violin) and Dmitry Sinkovsky (Baroque violin), and later studied with Alexei Lubimov. Following his growing interest in Early Music, he obtained his diploma in Baroque violin magna cum laude at the Conservatorio Bellini di Palermo with Enrico Onofri (violin) and Riccardo Minasi (chamber music) in January 2013.
Boris Begelman regularly appears as concert-master and as soloist with some of today's finest Baroque orchestras, including Il Complesso Barocco (Director: Alan Curtis), Concerto Italiano (Director: Rinaldo Alessandrini), Accademia Bizantina (Director: Ottavio Dantone), Cappella Gabetta (Switzerland, Director: Andres Gabetta), Orquestra Divino Sospiro (Portugal, Director: Enrico Onofri) Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra (Israel, Director: David Shemer), Il Pomo d'Oro, Cappella Mediterranea (France, Director: Leonardo García-Alarcón). He has performed as a soloist under the baton of Giovanni Antonini, Ottavio Dantone, Enrico Onofri and other world-renowned conductors.
Boris Begelman recently conducted Accademia Bizantina, Il Pomo d'Oro orchestra and Max Cencic at Opéra de Lausanne, toured China as a part of the Eggner Trio and conducted Cappella Gabetta Orchestra with the soprano Simone Kermes and the mezzo-soprano Vivica Genaux at the Forum Am Schlosspark, Ludwigsburg. In 2015-2016 season the first recording with his ensemble Arsenale Sonoro featuring Georg Philipp Telemann's violin sonatas for DHM (Sony Classics) was highly acclaimed by critics from all over the world.
Among his next engagements Boris Begelman will appear both as soloist and conductor at the festivals in Merano, Paris (Salle Gaveau), Munich (Prinzregententheater), Berlin, Bernau, Helmstedt, Dresden (Kulturpalast), Timisoara. He will make his Canadian debut in April 2018 conducting Arion Baroque Orchestra. His next CD release "Bach, Sonatas and Partitas for violin solo" was released in November 2017 on DHM (Sony Classics) label.
