Ditte Andersen (Soprano)

Born: April 17, ___ - Copenhagen, Denmark

The Danish soprano, Ditte Højgaard Andersen, graduated in 2004 from the Royal Danish Academy of Opera in Copenhagen with Susanna Eken as her voice coach.

Ditte Andersen is recognized as one of Scandinavia’s leading coloratura sopranos. With her graceful appearance and vibrant timbre she interprets even the most demanding roles effortlessly. She holds Baroque music close to her heart, but during the last years she has developed her repertoire to include W.A. Mozart as well as Richard Strauss. She started her career as a principal soloist at the Deutsche Oper Berlin (2006-2008), where the highlights of her engagements included Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Fiaker-Mili in Arabella, Waldvogel in Siegfried, Lisa in La Sonnambula, Pepa in Tiefland and a staged performance of Carmina Burana. In recent years she has sung at several opera houses around Europe. She has also performed at the Opéra Garnier in Paris, Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg, in Brussels and Monaco. She sang the role of Blonde in W.A. Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris and the Opéra de Lausanne. In Copenhagen she has sung roles in Gluck and W.A. Mozart operas. In concert she also sang Elisa in W.A. Mozart's Il Re Pastore with Adam Fischer and Zelmira in Haydn's Armida from Haydn in Cologne with Andreas Spering.

Recent opera engagements have included Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro in Stockholm; Ciréne in Aristeo and Bauci in Bauci e Filemone in Paris, Strasbourg, Brussels, Monaco, and Montpellier; Blondchen in W.A. Mozart's Die Entführung aus aem Seail, Cephie in Zoroastre by Rameau in Paris, Amsterdam and Stockholm; Servilia in W.A. Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito; Amor in Orfeo ed Euridice; Papagena in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte; Servilia in La Clemenza di Tito and Artenice in Sesostri. She also sang hort Cuts a pasticcio composed of arias from W.A. Mozart's operas in Paris, Aix-en-Provence, Nimes, Luxembourg, Grenoble, Caen and Vichy.

Ditte Andersen is a very sought-after concert singer. She has also performed concerts and festivals throughout Europe, in many of the major concert halls, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, Teatro Monumental in Madrid, Salle Pleyel in the Cité de la Musique and the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Bozar in Brussels, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Konzerthaus of Berlin. Her concert repertoire includes George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Haydn’s Die Schöpfung, W.A. Mozart's Mass in C minor, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244), St. John Passion (BWV 245), Mass in B minor (BWV 232) and Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248).

Ditte Andersen has worked with a number of high-profiled conductors from all over the world including Yves Abel, Gian-Carlo Andretta, Paolo Arrivabeni, Fabio Biondi, Thomas Dausgaard, Peter Dijkstra, Olari Elts, Laurence Equilbey, Adam Fischer, Matthias Foremny, Patrick Fournillier, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Michael Hofstetter, Christopher Hogwood, Graeme Jenkins, Vladimir Jurowski, Johannes Knecht, Adrian Leaper, Andrew Manze, Ion Marin, Jun Märkl, Paul McCreesh, Bobby McFerrin, Marc Minkowski, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Tomas Netopil, Daniel Oren, Juan Bautista Otero, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Lawrence Renes, Christophe Rousset, Donald Runnicles, Ulf Schirmer, Andreas Spering and Johannes Willig.

Most recent and future engagements include Eurilla in Haydn’s Orlando Paladino at the Drottningholm Festival in Stockholm; W.A. Mozart's Mass in C minor in Frankfurt, Toulouse, Grenoble, Lyon, Krakow, Budapest and Tokyo with Les Musiciens du Louvre and the conductor Marc Minkowski; Rosmene in George Frideric Handel’s Imeneo in Hamburg with the conductor Fabio Biondi; in 2012 J.S. Bach's cantatas BWV 31 and BWV 4 and J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244); in 2014 J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor (BWV 232) in Vienna, Essen, Amsterdam and Lausanne with the conductor Marc Minkowski. In the 2013-2014 season, she toured Europe with Les Musiciens du Louvre and the conductor Marc Minkowski in J.S. Bach's St. John Passion (BWV 245), also recorded on CD.

Ditte Andersen has recorded Servillia in W.A. Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito with Adam Fischer, Bauci in Gluck's Bauci e Filemone and Cirene in Aristeo with Christophe Rousset; Artenice in Terradella’s Sesostri with the conductor Juan Bautista Otero; and a CD with arias and cantatas by Italian Baroque composers for the record label Berlin Classics. She got married in 2012 and currently lives in Vanløse, Copenhagen, Denmark.
