The French bass-baritone, Virgile Ancely, began his singing studies at the Conservatoire de Roubaix and continued his training at the CRR de Paris in the Département Supérieur pour Jeunes Chanteurs created by Laurence Equilbey, graduating in 2008 with Prix de perfectionnement. He is winner in 2009 of the concours international de chant de Clermont-Ferrand.
Virgile Ancely works regularly as a soloist (Ariadne auf Naxos by Strauss, Le Balcon by Péter Eötvös, Métamorphose by M. Levinas at the Théâtre de l'Athénée) with Ensemble Le Balcon created by Maxime Pascal and Alphonse Cemin, and numerous Baroque ensembles such as Les Arts Florissants (Director: William Christie), Le Poème Harmonique (Director: Vincent Dumestre), Le Concert Spirituel (Director: Herve Niquet), Les Paladins (Director: Jérôme Corréas), Ensemble Pygmalion (Director: Raphaël Pichon), Les Ombres ...
