Conrad August Friedrich Trainer was born the son of Adam Friedrich Trainer (Pastor in Gollma). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on February 28, 1748; studied there from 1748 to 1754; and at Universität Leipzig from 1752. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him.
