Philipp Christoph Siegler was born to Johann Siegler (book printer in Magdeburg). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on July 4, 1726; studied there from 1726 to 1732, since April 12, 1726 already as external; and at Universität Leipzig from 1739. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. J.S. Bach reported (August 23, 1730): “usable for 1st Choir (figural music)”. He died died as Theology student in Leipzig in 1755. |
