Karl Friedrich Segnitz (Notary, Bach's Pupil) |
Born: 1713 - Schenkenberg, Brandenburg, Germany
Died: After 1740 - Leipzig, Saxony, Germany |
Karl Friedrich Segnitz was born to Augustin Segnitz (Pastor in Schenkenberg). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on July 4, 1726; studied there from 1726 to 1732, since March 18, 1726 already as external; and at Universität Leipzig from 1732. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. J.S. Bach reported (August 23, 1730): “not yet ready to be used in the 1st choir (figural music)”. After his studies he works as notary (verifiable 1740) in Leipzig. His elder brother, Gregor Christian Segnitz (c1706-after 1763), was also a Thomaner (1717-1725). |
