Samuel Ernst Friedrich Osannus [Oßan, Ossan] was born to August Ludwig Osannus (Pastor in Buttelstedt). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on June 26, 1730; and studied there from 1730 to 1732. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. J.S. Bach reported (August 23, 1730) “not yet ready to be used in the 1st choir (figural music)”. |
