Christoph Friedrich Meißner [Meissner] was born to Georg Christian Meißner, the court trumpeter in Weißenfels. His mother was the older sister of Anna Magdalena (Wilcken) Bach.He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on June 18, 1729, his application states that he has a good foundation in “letters as well as music”. He studied there from 1729 to 1731. J.S. Bach reported (August, 23, 1730): “not yet ready to be used in the 1st choir (figural music)”. He was one of J.S. Bach's copyists, appearing in the manuscripts as A Anon. Vh; Anon. 9. |
