Johann August Kretzschmar was born the son of Anton Heinrich Kretzschmar (lawyer in Mylau). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on October 24, 1732; and studied there from 1732 to 1736, since August 28, 1732 already as external. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. |
