The distinguished German musicologist, Heinrich Husmann, studied musicology with Ludwig at the University of Göttingen, and with Hornbostel, Schering, Wolf, and Blume at the Humboldt University in Berlin. He received his Ph.D. there in 1932.
In 1933 Heinrich Husmann was appointed assistant lecturer at the musicological institute at the University of Leipzig. He completed his Habilitation there in 1941, and then was made its acting director in 1944. He completed a 2nd Habilitation at the University of Hamburg in 1948. He organised its musicological institute in 1949, was a reader there from 1956 and a professor from 1958. In 1960 he became a professor of musicology at the University of Göttingen.
Heinrich Husmann's books include: Funf- und siebenstellige Centstafeln zur Berechnung musikalischer lntervalle (Leiden, 1951); Vom Wesen der Konsonanz (Heidelberg, 1953); Einführung in die Musikwissenschaft (Heidelberg, 1958); Grundlagen der antiken und orientalischen Musikkultur (Berlin, 1961). |
