Carl Friedrich Eberhardt was born to Johann Georg Eberhardt (confectioner). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on May 17, 1724 and studied there from 1724 to 1732; and at Universität Leipzig in 1732. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. J.S. Bach reported (1730) “incompetent, not at all musical”. |
