The German pianist, pedagogue and music scholar, Rudolf (Maria) Breithaupt, studied jurisprudence, philosophy and musicology before taking piano lessons with Teichmüller at the Leipzig Conservatory. Then he went to Berlin and was appointed piano teacher at the Stern Conservatory.
Rudolf (Maria) Breithaupt published studies on piano playing: Die natürlische Klaviertechnik (Leipzig, 1905; French translation, 1923); Die Grundlagen der Klaviertechnik (Leipzig, 1906; French translation, 1908; English translation, 1909; Russian translation, 1929); and Praktische Studien (1916-1921). He also published Musikalische Zeit und Streitfragen (Berlin, 1906). |
