Dieter Zechlin (Piano)

Born: October 30, 1926 - Goslar, Lower Saxony, Germany
Died: March 16, 2012 - Potsdam, Brandenburg, Germany

The German pianist, Dieter Zechlin, was was pupil of Otto Weinreich in Leipzig, F. Jung in Erfurt and Karl Weiß in Weimar.

From 1949 on Dieter Zechlin taught at the Thüringer Landeskonservatorium in Erfurt, and since 1951 at Deutschen Hochschule für Musik in Berlin. His concert tours led him to Europe and to Japan. He participated in the GDR in orchestral concerts, chamber music programs and broadcast and recordings. In 1959 he received the Art Prize of the GDR and in 1961 the National Prize of the GDR. From 1951 to 1972 he was married with the composer Ruth Zechlin.
