The German bass, Lars Woldt, studied at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold with Professor Giselher Klebe (composition) and Professor Martin Christian Vogel (singing); resuming studies with KS Walter Berry, Karlheinz Hanser and above all KS Franz Crass. In 1997 he received scholarship of the Richard-Wagner-Verbandes.
Lars Woldt was firstly engaged from 2000 to 2003 at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck, where he sang König Marke in Tristan und Isolde, Timur in Turandot, Rocco in L.v. Beethoven's Fidelio, Falstaff in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor, Bottom Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Der Alte in Gespenster-sonate, Publio in W.A. Mozart's La clemenza di Tito and Zsupan in Der Zigeunerbaron. He had guest appearances at the Landestheater Detmold (bass part in Purcell's King Arthur) as well as the Staatstheater Braunschweig (Baron Ochs in Der Rosenkavalier).
Lars Woldt's concert repertoire includes the Passions of J.S. Bach, several oratorios of Georg Frideric Handel, J. Haydn's Die Schöpfung and Die Jahreszeiten, L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and Missa Solemnis, Verdi's Requiem, Johannes Brahms' Deutsches Requiem, Dvorak's Stabat Mater and Dmitri Shostakovich's Michelangelo Suite. He has co-operated with the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, Radiophil-harmonie Hannover, Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart, Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, Münchner Rundfunkorchester, and Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, and at the Schleswig-Holstein-Musikfestival, the Berliner Philharmonie, the Kölner Philharmonie, the Leipzig's Gewandhaus and at the Auditorio Nacional de Musica in Madrid.
CD productions in which Lars Woldt has participated include Felix Mendelssohn's Die erste Walpurgisnacht under Helmuth Rilling and Strauss’ Elektra under Semyon Bychkov. He has appeared in several premiers, the last of which, Michelangelo-Gesänge, was dedicated to him by the composer Giselher Klebe.
Since February 2004 Lars Woldt is ensemble member of the Volksoper Wien. In June 2004 he was distinguished with the Eberhard-Wächter-Förderpreis of the Wiener Staatsoper. His operatic repertoire includes roles as Bett (Zar und Zimmermann), Falstaff (Die Lustigen Weiber Von Windsor), Rocco (Fidelio), Marke (Tristan Und Isolde) and Timur (Turandot). In 2004-2005 season he is going to sing the roles of Dottore Grenvil (La Traviata), Der Pfarrer (new production of Irrelohe), Ratefreund (Die Vögel), as well as Don Magnifico (La Cenerentola), Richter von Richmond (Martha), Publius (La clemenza di Tito) and Kezal in the new production of Die verkaufte Braut. Among his pupils and/or singers who have attended his master-classes: Inga Balzer-Wolf (Soprano), Clemens Joswig (Bass), Ansgar Theis (Baritone). |
