The French soprano, Maïlys de Villoutreys, had studied the violin for several years, before she was accepted at age 9 to the Maîtrise de Bretagne, and discovered singing with Jean-Michel Noël, participating in numerous concerts, recordings and tours. While pursuing of Italian Studies at the University, she studied under Martine Surais at the Conservatoire de Rennes, then perfected with Isabelle Guillaud and Alain Buet at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where she obtained her Master of Music degree with honors in 2011.
Maïlys de Villoutreys discovered the stage at a young age in performing children's roles at the Opéra de Rennes (Sophie in Let's make an opera by Benjamin Britten, Yniold in Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande). Later, she was Miss Ellen in Lakmé at the Opéra de Rouen, Aspasia in Rossini's La Pietra del Paragone at the Teatro Regio di Parma and performed several W.A. Mozart roles: Barberina and Pamina at the Paris Conservatoire, Queen of the Night (conducted by N. Krüger), and more recently in Melia in Apollon et Hyacinthe at the Cité de la Musique in Paris. At the l'Opéra Royal de Versailles, she sang Amour in Gluck's Orphée et Eurydice conducted by G. Grazioli and Clarine in Rameau's Platée under the baton of Jean-Claude Malgoire.
Passionate about chamber music, Maïlys de Villoutreys has sung Lieder and Melodies with pianist Ivan Couëffé, and together with the harpist Delphine Benhamou in duo Asturiana.
Maïlys de Villoutreys' taste for Baroque music has led her to perform with numerous ensembles and she regularly can be heard with the Folies Françoises but also with Amarillis, Ensemble Pygmalion (Director: Raphaël Pichon), Ricercar Consort (Director: Philippe Pierlot), Les Surprises (Director: Louis-Noël Bestion de Camboulas), Musiciens du Paradis, Ensemble Desmarest, Simphonie du Marais... In 2012, she recorded the cantata Clytemnestre by Cherubini with the Kölner Akademie (Director: Michael Alexander Willens) for the CPO label. |
