Veszprém Mixed Chorus (Choir)

Founded: 1957 - Veszprém, Hungary

The Mixed Chorus of the City of Veszprém (Veszprém Város Vegyeskara) was founded in 1957 by István Zámbó, who has been Music Director of the ensemble ever since. They regularly appear in concerts throughout Hungary together with Veszprém Symphonic Orchestra. The remarkable achievements of the chorus have been credited at a number of concerts and festivals abroad, too. The won 1st prize at Arezzo, Gorizia, Varna, Llangollen. After many acclaimed radio recordings they were awarded 1st prize at the BBC Competition in 1977.
