The American tenor, Charles Javier Vega, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Opera from Florida State University (2017-2021) with Jeffrey Springer. During his studies there he was Tenor Section Leader at Good Shepard Catholic Church in Tallahassee, Florida (September 2017-May 2018). Currently he is a master’s student in voice and opera at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University (since August 2021; expected graduation: December 2023), where he began his studies with Carlos Montane and currently studies with Deanne Meek.
Charles Vega's most recent performance was in the world premiere of Anne Frank where he played Peter (2023). Other IU Jacobs School of Music Opera Theater appearances include the role of Patacha in Chabrier’s L’Étoile (2022) and in the ensembles of H.M.S. Pinafore (2022), Falstaff, (2022) The Coronation of Poppea (2021), and Highway 1, USA (2021). For the past two summers, he has performed in Germany at the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar, featured as Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (2022) and Basilio/Don Curzio in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro (2021). He currently lives in Bloomington, Indiana. |
