The Trierer Konzertchor (= TKC) was founded in 1964 as Trierer Kammerchor by Manfred May. During the long years of its existence, it is becoming an important cultural institution of the city whose name it bears. Through radio productions of a-capella works and concerts with the Orchester des SWF (now SWR), a television production of the same transmitter, as well as numerous concerts and concert tours, the choir has made a name regionally and beyond.
Highlights of the Trierer Konzertchor's concert activities were and are the performances of major choral works of many important composers. The repertoire of the choir includes also European secular Lieder from the Renaissance to modern times. Particularly noteworthy are the efforts to re-list the Trierer Klassik, ie the music of the Elector of time and premieres of music by contemporary composers of the Trierer country.
For many years, the Trierer Konzertchor maintains international cultural contacts. Successful concert tours have taken the choir: Nancy, Vienna, Budapest, Milan, Saronno, Brussels, Prague, Benesov, Nymburk, Savona, Solothurn, twice to Moscow and most recently 1999, to Lisbon.
The choir is also a promoter of chamber music in Trier's musical life is with the regular series of "Konzert im Kurfürstlichen Palais" ("Concert in the Electoral Palace"). This series offers not only well-known works and artists but is often a platform for young artists and artistic experiments.
Through training of musical talent, the Trierer Kinderchor appears both in their own concerts as well as supporting the Trierer theater in their public performances.
Since 1993, the activities of Trierer Konzertchor are maintained by the association of Trierer Konzert- und Kammerchor e.V. These include the average annual 3 own choral concerts, chamber concerts 2-3 and a concert tour. Since 1993, there is also a patron of the traditional cultural roles, which supports.
In 1994, the Trierer Konzertchor celebrated its 30-year anniversary choir of Trier with a premiere of Sir Michael Tippett's Child of Our Time. The choir participates intensively in the cultural and political efforts to use the historical monuments of the city of Trier.
1994 was the beginning of a strong connection with the Mosel Festwochen, with which the choir has a big annual concert (usually an open-air concert). With Carmina Burana in 1995 the co-operation with the Dance Theater of Dessau began, continuing in 1997 with dance with Messa da Requiem by Verdi, and with two chamber evenings dancing "Courtly Dances" in 1997 and 1999. Regular partner in concerts of the choir in recent years have been the orchestra Sinfonietta Saarbrücken, the Filharmonie Hradec Králové, the SWR Sinfonieorchester and Kurpfälzische Kammerorchester. |
