The American baritone, David Tinervia, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree (Performance Major).from McGill University in Montréal (2007-2011); and his Master of Music degree at McGill University as a student of baritone Sanford Sylvan (2011-2013). In January 2016, he was a finalist of the New England Regional Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
David Tinervia works as an independent Classical singer. He has performed as a soloist in operas and oratorios throughout the USA and Canada. In October 2012, he was soloist in the Blanche Moyse 2nd Annual Memorial Concert conducted by Mary Westbrook-Geha in Brattleboro, Vermont and in New York City. A two-season fellow of the Tanglewood Music Center, he made his Tanglewood debut in July 2013 as The Traveler in Curlew River in collaboration with the Mark Morris Dance Group. In October 2016, he participated in the premiere recording of James Kallembach's Most Sacred Body with Scott Allen Jarrett and Marsh Chapel Choir & Marsh Chapel Collegium in Boston (released in 2018 by Gothic Records), In May 2017, he sang the world premiere of Nina C. Young's work for baritone and orchestra, Out of whose womb came the ice with the American Composer's Orchestra in New York City, receiving acclamation in the New York Times' "This Week’s 8 Best Classical Music Moment's."
Since then, David Tinervia has sung a wide variety of early, contemporary and operatic repertoire with many of the region’s finest ensembles, including Boston's Handel and Haydn Society (since January 2016), Emmanuel Music (since January 2016), Aradia Ensemble (Director: Kevin Mallon), Music at Marsh Chapel, Ballet Opera Pantomime in Montreal, Kingston Symphony Orchestra and Ensemble Caprice (Director: Matthias Maute). In 2017-2018 season , he served as a 2017-2018 Lorraine Hunt-Lieberson Fellow with Emmanuel Music.
While committed to his career in music, David Tinervia also studied Pre-Medical Science at Harvard Extension School (2017-2019). Currently, he is FAS Teaching Fellow at Harvard University (since September 2019). He currently lives in Montreal, Quebec. |
