The Etonian baritone, Alvar Tiisler, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics and Government from the Tallinn University.
Alvar Tiisler has been associated with Estonian National Opera (ENO) more than half of his life (since January 2004). Starting as a boys choir singer he has later performed at ENO's performances as a soloist and opera chorus artist. As a soloist, his repertoire includes J.S. Bach's
St John Passion (BWV 245), St Matthew Passion (BWV 244), Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248), B Minor Mass (BWV 232), Magnificat (BWV 243) and many cantatas; also George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Resurrezione, Israel in Egypt, Dixit Dominus; Charpentier's Te Deum; and Purcell's Hail! Bright Cecilia. As a soloist he has performed with orchestras like State Academic Chamber Orchestra of Russia in Moscow's Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, Israel Chamber Orchestra, Israel Camerata Orchestra Jerusalem, Sinfonietta Riga, Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra, Barrocade Ensemble, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and Estonian Sinfonietta. In October 2019, he started collaboration with MusicAeterna organization and their conductor Teodor Currentzis. He has performed as a soloist and with various ensembles in USA, Canada, Japan, Israel, Russia and almost everywhere in Europe.
In addtion, Alvar Tiisler is Sports Broadcaster at the Estonian Public Broadcasting since August 2008. He currently lives in Tallinn, Estonia. |
