Founded in 2007 by a small group of passionate young musicians, the exhilarating, self-conducted ensemble Barrocade is a breath of fresh air in the Israeli and international music scene. Hailed by critics as “joyful”, “fresh” and “exciting”, the Barrocade has been winning the love of the audience wherever it goes.
Consisting of 12 instrumentalists and a singer, Barrocade specializes in Early music and boasts an exceptionally rich basso-continue section, both allowing its soprano instruments to shine, as well as providing the entire ensemble with a uniquely affluent, colorful and memorable sound. With no conductor, each member of the ensemble has a voice and the music performed represents a true, meaningful dialogue.
Barrocade does not limit itself to music from the Baroque and the Renaissance. The ensemble ventures into varied musical fields, including folk music, modern music and Jazz. Yet in all that it does, Barrocade remains faithful to the dynamic and playful spirit of the Baroque, and always aims at presenting great music in a communicable and fun fashion to audiences everywhere.
Though young in years, Barrocade has already collaborated with prominent artists such as Matthew Halls and Patrick Cohën-Akenine, and has performed in festivals all over Europe, in addition to running a successful annual concert series in Israel. With new and exciting projects always on the horizon, Barrocade is clearly one of the most intriguing music ensembles working today.
The ensemble is supported by the Music Department, Culture Administration, Israel Ministry of Science, Culture and Sports. |
