The English baritone, Richard Paul im Thurn, was head chorister of the Schola Cantorum of Ampleforth Abbey and later a choral scholar at Worcester College, Oxford, where he read Law (BA (Oxon): 1983-1986).
During his time in London, Paul im Thurn ran a chamber choir, Holst Singers (Director: Stephen Layton). He now lives and works in Carlisle and enjoys a rich mix of legal career, family, and music, singing occasionally in the Cathedral choir, local opera productions, and as a founder member of Cumbria's the Herdwyck Consort. He was a member of the Monteverdi Choir (Director: John Eliot Gardiner) and participated in their 2000 Bach Cantata Pilgrimage.
In his legal career, Paul im Thurn has been Assistant Solicitor at Norton Rose (March 1988-February 1993); Solicitor at Brent Community Law Centre (March 1993-December 2000); Senior Solicitor at Cumbria Law Centre (January 2001-March 2013); Barrister at Kenworthy's Chambers (since April 2013). |
