The Swiss counter-tenor, Jan Thomer, studied singing at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Gerd Türk, Dominique Vellard, Ulrich Messthaler and Andreas Scholl. He now studies with Scot Weir in Zürich. He is a prize-winner of the Swiss Youth Music Competition (with distinction) and the Friedl Wald Foundation. He has participated in master-classes with Jakob Stämpfli, Rosa Domínguez and Margreet Honig.
As a freelance singer, Jan Thomer began his career in 2005 with performances at home and abroad as a soloist including KKL Luzern, Theater Basel, Opernhaus Zürich (2008, 2009), Philharmonie Essen. He is also an ensemble singer with Ensemble Gilles Binchos, Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius), Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (Director: Rudolf Lutz; since 2021), and I Pizzicanti. Since August 2021, he is choir director of the Kirchenchores Hägendorf-Rickenbach. |
